Waterloo Chapter Business Meeting – Feb. 18


This meeting at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 145 Dearborn Place will feature Michael Lewis from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Session one is ‘Building a winning team: A guide to hiring, training and keeping great employees.’ Session two is ‘Marketing for small business success made easy and profitable.’ Fees include lunch, $50 for members and $75 for non-members. Prosperity Partnership Introductory seminar — Jan. 20


This introductory seminar will get you started on to the road of success. This program is intended to help green industry members clarify their strengths, and understand the components of their business needing attention and improvement. Be heard on the proposed pesticide ban — Dec. 21

There is still time for LO members to voice their concerns on the proposed Cosmetic Pesticides Ban Act, 2008. All industry members need to register their opinions on the Act by Dec. 21. For regulations and details on how to submit your opinion, visit www.ebr.gov.on.ca. The Registry number to enter is 010-5080. After December 21, it’s too late!

Legacy Room at Congress 2009

Ontario’s horticulture industry will honour its pioneers at Congress with the Legacy Room, hosted by the Ontario Horticultural Trades Foundation. Leading industry members are invited to participate through sponsorship of the room. The Pachter Room at the Toronto Congress Centre will be open Tues., Jan. 6, from 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Safety Groups Program

The Safety Groups Program is designed to promote health and safety in the workplace. This is accomplished through mentoring, pooling of resources and sharing of best practices between member firms, their sponsor and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Member firms can receive, along with improved safety records, financial benefits, in the form of rebates from the WSIB. Click here for more details on the Safety Groups program.

LO’s Annual General Meeting is set for Wed., Jan. 7, at the Doubletree International Plaza Hotel. Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. Meeting starts at 8:00 a.m. All members are invited to attend, however, only Active and Interim members are allowed to vote.
