Chapter Meeting — Jan. 14


The Waterloo Chapter meeting is scheduled for Wed., Jan. 14, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 145 Dearborn Place, Waterloo, Ont. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Congratulations to Nick Glaesner, winner of the 50/50 draw in December.
Waterloo Chapter Business Meeting — Feb. 18


The Waterloo Chapter business meeting will feature Michael Lewis on Feb. 18, 2009 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 145 Dearborn Place, Waterloo, Ont. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Session One is ‘Building a winning team: A guide to hiring, training and keeping great employees.’ Session two will include: ‘Marketing for small business success made easy and profitable.’ Fees include lunch: $50 for members and $75 for non-members. Congress 2009 featured on television

Congress 2009 was brought to the public through CityTv’s Breakfast Television show. In photo Mike Laporte, member of Congress 2009 committee, is interviewed by Breakfast Television’s Jennifer Valentine. SCIP needs registrations — Jan. 15

The Safe Communities Incentive Program (SCIP) has announced that due to lack of registrations, all SCIP programs for Landscape Ontario will be cancelled, other than those booked in Ottawa and at LO’s office in Milton. These two venues will also be cancelled if not enough registrations are received by January 15. For information contact Carol Divitkos at 1-800-663-6639, ext. 3431.

Growers Short Course 2009 — Feb. 11

Dr. Hannah Mathers of the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre is the featured speaker at this year’s Growers Short Course on Wed., Feb. 11 at Royal Botanical Gardens, 680 Plains Rd., Burlington. The day begins at 7:30 with breakfast and concludes around 3:50 with the Growers’ Good Idea session, featuring six growers sharing their experience. Pre-registration is $65 for LO members and $75 for potential members. At the door, registration is $90, payable by cash or cheque only. The first sessions start promptly at 8:30. Learn why what worked doesn’t work — Feb. 12 and 20

A half-day workshop, entitled ‘Why What Worked Doesn’t Work Anymore and How to Make it Work,’ for business owners and managers is scheduled for Feb. 12 at the Best Western in Milton and Feb. 20 at the RA Centre in Ottawa. The workshops begin at 9 and run until 12-noon, with lunch provided. A minimum of 25 registrations are required for each event to run. Milton details here.
